Matt Knight’s “4:20 HIT of the Day” – 8/1/22
Every weekday, I’m going to drop a song that I like to call the 4:20 HIT of the Day. What does this mean? Simply, it’s a song that I think will give you some good vibes, ‘spark up’ nostalgia or just remind you about a tune that you might love but just haven’t heard in a while.
Today’s HIT is as timely as any song I’ve spotlighted on this feature since it began. From Carole King, it’s “The First Day In August” from her 1972 album ‘Rhymes & Reasons.’
This song was never released as a single from the album. In fact, only one song from ‘Rhymes & Reasons’ was considered a hit with “Been To Canaan” reaching the top 25 of the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Easy Listening chart. The album as a whole reached #2 on the Billboard 200.
Since it’s the 1st of August, let’s listen to “The First Day In August” below.
