Overnight guests can bring an extra layer of joy to your coastal paradise but hosting them can sometimes be a bit daunting. Here are some fun and practical tips to ensure both you and your guests have a fantastic time!
Tips For A Beach House Stay
First things first, always have a stash of clean towels ready. There’s nothing worse than a sandy, salty guest with no fresh towel in sight. Consider having a special “guest towel” drawer or basket in the bathroom so they’re easy to find.
Next, stock up on some beach essentials. Think sunscreen, aloe vera gel for those accidental sunburns, and plenty of extra flip-flops. A basket by the door filled with these items can be a lifesaver and show your guests you’ve thought of everything.
For rainy days it’s always a good idea to have board games and a deck of cards at the ready. Our family likes to have an ongoing jigsaw puzzle set up on a side table. It’s not only a great way to keep people busy on rainy days, but it’s also handy when you’re waiting for the shower or dinner to be completed. It sparks conversations and it’s a fun thing to do!
Comfortable sleeping arrangements are a must. If you don’t have a dedicated guest room, an air mattress or a pull-out sofa can do the trick. Don’t forget to provide a few extra blankets for those cool beach nights. Extra pillows too!
For meals, have a few easy, beach-friendly recipes on hand. Grilling is a fantastic option – it’s quick, easy, and perfect for summer evenings. Fresh seafood, burgers, and mozzarella with farm stand local tomatoes, corn on the cob (it’s been exceptional this year), and a crisp salad can make for a delicious and low-effort dinner. And don’t forget the s’mores for a fun dessert! You can always go to a local ice cream shop too! (See my article about different styles of ice cream)
Lastly, embrace the laid-back beach lifestyle. Things might get a little sandy, and that’s okay. The key is to enjoy the company and the beautiful surroundings. After all, living by the beach is all about relaxation and making memories.
So, whether it’s a weekend visit or a longer stay, with these tips, you’ll be the ultimate beachside host, ready to welcome any guest with open arms and a sunny smile
