Sunshine, Boardwalk… Comedy? There's so much fun to be had at the Jersey Shore - even after prime tanning hours. And not only great comedy shows… great opportunities for YOU to pick up the microphone and get a laugh from the crowd! (no Dad jokes, please!) From traditional comedy clubs like Uncle Vinnie's in Point Pleasant to comedy events at the Middletown Arts Center to Festivals at local breweries and pubs, the Jersey Shore has big-time laughs at small-town prices.

One great spot is the Count Basie Cinema in Red Bank. On the 3rd Thursday of every month, they turn off the projector and turn on the microphone for a $5 open mic. Hosted by Chris Covert, a headliner who hilariously combines music & comedy, comics of all levels take the stage for 5 minutes to try out their stuff. Have you been wanting to try standup? You won't find a more supportive room to try out your jokes for the first (or 500th) time!

It's also a great spot for surprise guests, like Don Jamieson from That Metal Show. I’ve seen him many times as I await my turn to go up. (& yes, he's a tough act to follow!) Oh, btw... did I mention I'm also a standup comic?

Pubs and breweries are popular comedy spots as well. Enjoy a wide selection of craft beers and interesting décor at WildAir Beerworks, a delightful brewery in Asbury Park, while laughing along to Comedy Shows from Ugly Pancake Productions – aka Angelo Gingerelli & “Joey B” Borzotta. With a combined 20+ years of standup experience, they produce shows and festivals throughout Monmouth and Ocean County, featuring a wide variety of local comics. Upcoming Wild Air shows are June 15th & July 13th.

Another "don't miss” is Ugly Pancake’s "School's Out" comedy show on June 22nd at the Middletown Arts Center, which offers monthly comedy shows as well as a variety of fun events. Movie nights, musicals, Jazz & Accoustic nights are all happening this summer at the "MAC".

The final Monday of each month offers "The Scoop", a rapid-fire comedy show of 2-minute sets and interviews with the hosting panel. Joe Castore is the mastermind behind this monthly laugh-fest at the ShowRoom Cinema in Asbury Park.

If you prefer a more “relaxing” atmosphere – The Stoned Dojo in Toms River offers great Saturday night comedy twice monthly, with food, drinks and gifts.

Comedy is alive & well at the Jersey Shore – come out and laugh with us! And if you’re brave enough… Show Us The Funny!

8 Places Locals Recommend For Juicy Prime Rib On The Jersey Shore

8 Places Locals Recommend For Juicy Prime Rib On The Jersey Shore

April 24th is National Prime Rib Day.

Most diehard carnivores will tell you that every day is National Prime Rib Day in their world.

Who Has The Best Prime Rib On The Jersey Shore?

I will tell you ahead of time that one place in Monmouth County was the overwhelming choice for the best prime rib according to the locals.

According to my sources which include numerous food pages on social media, thousands of people recommended this old-school place, and it takes the crown for the best prime rib in Monmouth & Ocean County.

That place is Four Winds Restaurant on Jefferson Avenue in Manasquan.

According to Only In Your State, The prime rib is the star of the show. You can go for the 20 oz. or opt for something larger...32 ounces of perfection. And it's not just big, it's fantastic! Four Winds only uses Sterling Silver Premium Beef - the top 12% of beef available. It's hand-selected with a strict aging requirement of 21 days. If you'd like, it can be grilled upon request.

My friend, Mike has been here twice in the last month because the prime rib is that good. He ordered the 20-ounce cut and said it was so huge that he couldn’t imagine being able to even make a dent in the larger cowboy cut.

In this article, I’m trying to stay away from traditional steakhouses like Char, Prime 13, Sinners, and Flames because most of them have excellent prime rib, and I don’t want to create a steakhouse listicle.

I’m also staying away from chain restaurants like Texas Roadhouse because I want the focus to be on locally-owned restaurants in our area.

I think if you’re in the mood to have a slab of beef, you should have options aside from the obvious, steakhouses which tend to be a bit more costly than let’s say your local diner or café.
Let’s look at where the locals go for a juicy piece of prime rib on or near the Jersey Shore.

Four Winds Restaurant - 1316 Jefferson Ave, Manasquan, NJ 08736

This was without a doubt the #1 choice for prime rib among those who weighed in. If you're not hungry enough for a slab of their famous prime rib, feel free to order from the lunch menu. Try the prime rib dip, 12 ounces of thinly sliced prime rib on an Italian roll accompanied by a cup of au jus.
They also offer an open-faced prime rib sandwich, 12 ounces of thinly sliced prime rib piled high on garlic bread topped with frizzled onions and melted mozzarella cheese.

Pour House - 640 Shrewsbury Ave, Tinton Falls, NJ 07701

On Sunday and Wednesday, the Pour House offers a prime rib special for $26.99. This will not disappoint. The burgers are among my favorite in the area, and the French onion soup and crab meltaways are some of the local's favorites on the menu. I've never had a bad meal at the Pour House.

The Cabin Restaurant - 984 NJ-33, Freehold, NJ 07728

Sunday is prime rib night at The Cabin.  Get a prime rib dinner from 4pm to closing for just $24.99. Lots of people have raved about how juicy and flavorful the prime rib is.  If you're not getting the prime rib on Sunday, go for the ribs...delicious.

Oh, and by the way, Thursday is steak night.

The Ocean View Restaurant - 2 Boardwalk, Seaside Heights, NJ 08751

Thursday nights from 4:30 to 9:00, it's an all you can eat prime rib dinner buffet. For $26.95 you can feast on: prime rib, steak, vegetables, salads, and assorted cold and hot pasta.

Come for Happy Hour from 4 to 7 and stay for dinner and game night.

The Office Restaurant & Lounge- 820 Main St, Toms River, NJ 08753

Try their famous prime rib au jus regular cut or king cut at market price. If it's on the daily special's menu, it's $32.99. They have a sushi bar, great burgers, French onion soup and kick ass wings.

Mickey's Port of Call Pub - 327 E Main St, Tuckerton, NJ 08087

Serving prime rib Thursday through Saturday with your choice of King cut for $34 and Queen cut for $27. This place has an outstanding pub menu and affordable prices. Mondays are steak night, Tuesdays are Mexican Night, and Wednesdays are burger and brew night.

The house smoked wings are a must try.

Dina's Bistro - 2008 NJ-37, Toms River, NJ 08753

One of Toms River's hidden gems run by the Warren family. Wonderful people offering their Thursday night Prime Rib special for $34. Enjoy a Three Course Prime Rib Dinner. Make sure you save room for our homemade desserts! BYOB.

Ivy League - 5 E 3rd St, Howell Township, NJ 07731

I love the Ivy League's burgers and wings. Now I've been told to grab the Prime Rib dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. Christine said, "One of the best deals in Monmouth County. Prime Rib night at Howell NJ's The Ivy League. For $26.99 you get a nice hefty helping of Prime Rib au jus with soup or salad, and a choice of side."
