Controversial Yet Successful Drag Show Returning To Silverton Bar & Grill
Despite opposition from some locals, last month’s Drag Queen Show at Roxy’s Bar & Grill in Toms River was a sold out success. Now the much maligned establishment is doubling down and will be hosting the event for a second time next month.
Pork Roll Eggs & Queens Return.
The Pork Roll Eggs & Queens Pop Diva Brunch Party has been once again scheduled at the establishment at 11 Kettle Creek Road in the Silverton section of Toms River. The date for the show is Sunday March 3rd, beginning at 11am. Tickets are 45 dollars. According to Roxy’s Facebook page, they invite patrons to join them for a dazzling show that promises to be even more spectacular. a purchased ticket includes a front-row seat to the show and a complimentary glass of champagne to kick off the festivities. Meanwhile, the post goes on to say partyers can indulge in the restaurant’s specialty brunch menu, featuring mouthwatering delights available for purchase. Interestingly, the post also makes clear that the event is exclusively for those 21 and older.
An Event Not Without Controversy.
Back in January, the bar came under fire from locals. Not only because of the nature of the show, but the perceived “All Ages” aspect of the of the event’s promotion. By all accounts, there were no children at the last drag performance. Moreover, the new show makes it clear the event is for adults only. I wrote about the announcement of the initial performance here.
Time will soon tell if local residents will have as much fervor over the latest drag show at Roxy’s. Local politics seem to have over the landscape of the Toms River social pages. One would think this minor controversy may have run it’s course. However, as we all know, you can never discount the opinions of our locals. Especially it seems, when it comes to the lightning rod that Roxy’s has become.
