Sting Goes To Prison
The former lead singer of The Police took to the stage at an Italian prison known for housing mafia bosses Thursday. According to NewsItaly24, Sting and his wife Trudie Styler stopped by Secondigliano prison in Naples, where they visited with inmates who are preparing to reintegrate into society through art and culture. Sting was presented with a guitar that was made of wood from migrant boats by prisoners who have been specializing in woodworking as they look to change their lives.
Sting and his band then performed a mini concert in the prison courtyard where inmates hung a banner saying “Welcome Mr. Sting.” The set included “Fragile,” “Every Breath You Take,” “Message in a Bottle,” and “Englishman in New York.”
Following the performance Sting and Trudy had lunch with the prisoners in the cantina where they enjoyed food grown and prepared by inmates while they chatted with smiles and handshakes all around. Sting got more love when he shouted out Champions League contender Naples much to the delight of all in attendance.
Sting will be at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City September 3.
