Matt Knight’s 4:20 HIT of the Day – Raydio “You Can’t Change That”
Let’s give you another “4:20 HIT of the Day.” What does this mean? Simply put, it’s a song that I think will give you some good vibes, ‘spark up’ nostalgia or just remind you about a tune that you might love but just haven’t heard in a while.
As I’m writing this, “Ghostbusters” by Ray Parker, Jr. is playing in the hallway. This gave me the inspiration to remind you that Parker had some hits with his 1970’s group Raydio, including “You Can’t Change That.”
From their second studio album Rock On, “You Can’t Change That” was released as a single in 1979, reaching #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and #3 on the soul chart. It’s a very laid-back song, but also one you can groove and dance to. In 1981, Ray Parker, Jr. had a desire to become a solo artist and the group parted ways. Parker’s solo career garnered him 6 top 40 hits in the 1980s, including “The Other Woman” (#4), and the aforementioned “Ghostbusters” (#1).
