Mutiny BBQ Heads to Asbury Park Convention Hall With New Beachfront Spot
Inside Asbury Park’s Convention Hall, where the Seahorse restaurant used to be, Mutiny BBQ Company will open its beachfront location on May 1. The location shows big ambitions for this rising star of New Jersey’s BBQ scene.
Called Mutiny Beach, this expansion follows the success that got them a top-10 ranking from NJ.com. BBQ favorites, from tender burnt ends to crispy Texas sausage, will be the main attraction at the new spot.
The historic Convention Hall, built from 1928 to 1930, is a masterpiece by Warren and Wetmore, the architects who designed Grand Central Terminal. Music legends like Springsteen, The Beach Boys, and the Stones have performed on its stage.
Tom and Martha Dunphy keep running their original 5th Avenue kitchen while expanding to the boardwalk. Since 2021, their small-batch cooking has impressed people by mixing different Southern smoking styles.
Local bands will perform live music in keeping with the building’s music heritage. With its laid-back atmosphere, the spot hopes to attract beachgoers and evening walkers from the boardwalk.
This new addition fits right in with Asbury Park’s growth as a popular summer destination. The prime boardwalk location puts BBQ smells right where tourists and locals meet.
As craft BBQ becomes more popular in coastal Northeast towns, Mutiny Beach brings new flavors to Convention Hall’s mix of food and entertainment.
