Joker 2 Set To Film In New Jersey
The good folks over at NJ.com got the scoop that new sequel to the Oscar winning 2019 film The Joker, like the original, will be shooting scenes right here in the Garden State. Joaquin Phoenix, who won an Oscar for his role in the film, will be joined by fellow Oscar winner Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn.
Director Todd Phillips used Newark as his Gotham City, and it proved to be the ideal look for The Joker. In fact, among the film’s 11 Oscar nominations was Best Cinematography for Teaneck’s Laurence Sher who will also be on board for the sequel.
The official title of the film is Joker: Folie a Deux, and it’s scheduled for release in October 2024. Production is underway with several scenes having already been shot in New York. Shooting in Newark and the surrounding area is set to commence in March.
