NEW YORK, NY - FEBRUARY 09: Pedestrians walk in the snow and wind in Manhattan on February 9, 2017 in New York City. A major winter storm warning is forecast from Pennsylvania to Maine with the New York City area expected to receive up to one foot of snow. New York City schools are closed for the day.

Many New Jersey residents woke up to a white blanket of snow this morning but according to forecasters, this is only the beginning. The weather site AccuWeather.com, per NJ Advance Media,ย states, “A storm that tracks from the southern Plains to the Ohio Valley and central Appalachians will keep the heaviest snow closer to the Great Lakes, upstate New York, and northern New England,” the weather site said. “A more southern track would bring the opportunity for heavier snow to the central Appalachians, mid-Atlantic, and southern New England.”

It added, “A swift forward speed with the storm should prevent a blockbuster snowfall in the… Northeastern states.”

Currently, central and South Jersey on Friday calls for just rain. Still, it’s not definite that it will be the only type of precipitation, according to AccuWeather.

The National Weather Service is still determining what type of precipitation will fall in New Jersey. Currently, it’s calling for rain and snow on Friday in northern New Jersey, but it is still unclear how much.

As of Tuesday morning (Feb. 28), winter storm warnings are still in effect until 1 p.m. for eastern Bergen, Morris, Passaic, and Sussex counties. Total snow accusations have yet to be announced but a total of 5 to 8 inches is expected.
