Tony Soprano’s Booth Sells for About $83k, Diner Gets Facelift
After being posted on eBay for just about a week, Tony Soprano’s booth is finding a new home.
Holsten’s Ice Cream, Chocolate & Restaurant, the original owners of the booth announced they would be getting a new, refurbished look on February 28th. However, with the “much-needed facelift” came the cost of rehousing the piece of TV history. The announcement post was shared over 1000 times on Facebook.
Met with resistance from some fans, the diner assured them that this was not something they took likely. But, with the furniture being over 60 years old, Holsten’s said it was no longer structurally sound. The diner expressed concern for the safety of future customers.
After a brief run on eBay, and just under 340 total bids, the infamous series finale prop sold for $82,600.
Fans had one last opportunity to visit the booth on March 2nd, 2024.
A New Look
Following the final sale, Holsten’s began renovations and alerted customers they would not be open the following day, March 3rd. The diner was very active on social media, sending regular updates to patrons. Working rapidly, they assured everybody they would be open by Tuesday, March 4th.
Holsten’s delivered on their word and at 11:43 AM, they announced the new furniture was installed. Sporting a sharper look, the new furniture does not sway too far from the old designs.
While the new booth might not carry the “aura” of James Gandolfini, the restaurant kept the same jukebox at the table. Holsten’s said they would be making an announcement regarding the sale of Tony’s booth later in the day.
In the meantime, fans, the egg creams are still good and the onion rings are still the best in the state, as far as Tony Soprano is concerned.
