Madonna Shares Health Update Following Hospitalization
Madonna is speaking out after being recently hospitalized due to a “serious bacterial infection.” In an Instagram post today (July 10), the Queen of Pop thanked her fans for their “positive energy, Prayers and words of healing and encouragement.” She tells her 19 million followers that she has felt their love and is on “the road to recovery.” While sharing her feelings of gratitude, the “Back That Up To The Beat” singer said her thought when she woke up in the hospital was her children.
Madonna has four kids. Her oldest, daughter Lourdes Leon, 26, she shares with ex-Carlos Leon. Her 22-year-old son, Rocco Ritchie, is from her previous marriage with Guy Ritchie. The singer-songwriter also has four adopted children from Malawi. Son David Banda and daughter Mercy James are 17, while twin daughters Stella and Estere are celebrating their 11th birthday this August.
Tour Update
Addressing her second thought, her Celebration World Tour, Madonna said she didn’t want to disappoint any of her fans who bought tickets. “I also didn’t want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show,” she wrote. “I hate to disappoint anyone.” She assured fans that her health and getting stronger to perform as soon as possible is her focus. The North American leg of her tour is planned to be rescheduled, with the European leg to begin as scheduled.
Actress and model Julia Fox commented on the post, “We love you so much you have never disappointed us.” DJ Diplo wrote, “We love you so much.”
Madonna’s longtime manager and producer Guy Oseary first confirmed the singer had been hospitalized. He wrote in an Instagram post that the singer’s health was improving and “a full recovery is expected” at the time of his posting. Oseary told fans all of her commitments would be paused, including her 35-city global tour. Leading up to her hospitalization, Madonna “ignored symptoms of illness for quite a while because she thought they would go away,” a source told People at the time. A second source added at the time, “Madonna has been very busy for a long time and not taking care of herself. She just continues to push herself beyond the limit.”
