Dr. Fauci’s Advice: We Should Wear Goggles Now Too
If you thought wearing masks during the coronavirus pandemic was an inconvenience, just wait till you hear Dr. Fauci’s latest recommendation.
Per the New York Post, the infectious disease expert suggests wearing goggles or full-face shields to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In a recent briefing, he said, “If you have goggles or an eye shield, you should use it.” When asked if eye protection will ever become a formal recommendation, he added, “It might, if you really want perfect protection of the mucosal surfaces.”
Dr Fauci then went on to explain in detail why the items are helpful. “You have mucosa in the nose, mucosa in the mouth, but you also have mucosa in the eye. Theoretically, you should protect all the mucosal surfaces. So if you have goggles or an eye shield, you should use it.”
