Otters At Georgia Aquarium Test Positive For COVID-19
Officials at the Georgia Aquarium say the COVID-19 pandemic has spread to otters.
Multiple Asian small-clawed otters at the Atlanta aquarium tested positive after showing COVID-like symptoms including sneezing, coughing, and fatigue.
They believe the otters contracted the virus from a staff member and have taken them ‘off exhibit’ for treatment.
The otters do not have any direct contact with guests.
Despite following rec’d health & safety protocols, it’s suspected they may have acquired it from an asymptomatic staff member. Risk of animal-to-human transmission is incredibly rare & they don’t have direct contact with guests. For more info: https://t.co/BRe8N00Nm7
