Rutger Hauer, ‘Blade Runner’ Co-Star, Dies at 75
Rutger Hauer, the Dutch actor best known for portraying Roy Batty in 1982’s Blade Runner, has died. He was 75.
Hauer’s agent Steve Kenis confirmed his death of an undisclosed illness to The Hollywood Reporter saying the actor passed away in his home in the Netherlands on July 19 and that his family did not want to share his death with the press until after his funeral today (July 24.)
Hauer’s lengthy career included film roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Batman Begins and Sin City. He also appeared in the television series Smallville and True Blood. However, fans will forever know the actor for his performance in Blade Runner, specifically his “Tears in the Rain” speech.
