Details On Picture Disc Reissue Of Billy Joel’s ‘The Stranger’
Billy Joel‘s 1977 breakthrough album The Stranger is coming to picture disc vinyl for the first time ever.
Newsday reports that Joel and Columbia Records have struck a licensing a deal with the Long Island indie label Brookvale Records to release the picture disc on October 20 in commemoration of the set’s 40th anniversary.
The disc will feature The Stranger‘s front cover on its A-side and the album’s back cover — a photo of Joel with band members Liberty DeVitto, Richie Cannata and Doug Stegmeyer and producer Phil Ramone — on the B-side.
The picture disc is available for pre-order at BrookvaleRecords.com, and it will also be sold at Looney Tunes, Brookvale chief Karl Groeger Jr.‘s record store on Long Island.
Joel next performs Thursday (September 21) in St. Louis, while his next monthly Madison Square Garden show takes place September 30.
