Queen News Round-Up: New VR Experience, Freddie Mercury Biopic Update
You can carry Queen + Adam Lambert in concert wherever you go, thanks to a new virtual reality experience called “VR The Champions.”
The 3D, 360-degree show was filmed during May of 2016 in Barcelona and is available for $9.99 via VRTGO for iPhone and Android phones and online. It’s also viewable without VR headsets.
In a statement, Queen guitarist Brian May, who recently published a Queen In 3D” book, says that, “This is the fulfillment of a dream. Through this unique virtual reality creation, fans around the world will for the first time be able to experience the excitement and energy of a Queen show in their own homes. Many of you have seen VR — but not VR like this.”
Queen + Adam Lambert is currently on tour in North America through August 5, with a European tour beginning November 1 in Prague.
…Meanwhile, actor Ben Hardy from the EastEnders has been cast to play drummer Roger Taylor in the long-planned Queen biopic, which is back on track after the departure of Sacha Baron Cohen from the Freddie Mercury role. Mr. Robot‘s Rami Malek is rumored to be playing Mercury in the film, which is hoped for a 2018 release.
