It’s only a couple of weeks until Halloween. It’s time to finalize everybody’s costumes and figure out exactly what the night-of plan is. Halloween is on a Thursday this year, so unless you’ve got kids or grandkids, most of us are probably going to spend the night in, watching movies and handing out candy to trick-or-treaters. And I’m alright with that.
But if you have kids or grandkids, I bet they’ve been excited to wander the neighborhood with their friends and collect as much candy as they can physically carry since October 1st. And knowing how young kids are, I bet many of them are waking up every morning asking “Is it Halloween yet? Can I wear my costume today?” Young kids have a terrible sense of time and that’s ok, that’s normal. You can’t make Halloween come faster, but if you want to be the parent/grandparent of the year, you could always take them to fun events leading up to the big night. Take them to a Trunk or Treat!
What is a Trunk or Treat?
If you don’t know what a Trunk or Treat is, it’s when a bunch of community members set their cars up around a parking lot and kids go from trunk to trunk collecting candy. Usually, the cars are decorated and the kids wear their costumes. It’s a safe and fun way to build excitement before Halloween. And luckily, these events are all over Ocean County, so you don’t have to go far! Plus they’re going on multiple weekends, so if you’d like to take your kids to more than one, feel free.
And the beauty of these events is that none of them are happening on Halloween itself. So your kids can Trunk or Treat on the weekends and Trick or Treat on Halloween, allowing the spooky fun to go on for as long as possible. Down below, I’ve listed 7 different events going on all across Ocean County, so find the one closest to you and have a fun family day out! If you do take your little ones and take pictures of their costumes or your costume, post them, and tag us on social media! We’d love to see you in the festive spirit! Happy Halloween!
