Liam Gallagher: Not Amused By ‘SNL’ Oasis Skit
Saturday Night Live‘s “Weekend Update” poked a bit of fun at the Oasis reunion tour this weekend, but singer Liam Gallagher was not amused. “Weekend Update” host Colin Jost interviewed “Liam Gallagher” (played by Sarah Sherman) and “Noel Gallagher” (played by James Austin Johnson). As you might imagine, they tried to adopt the brothers’ accents and made fun of their famous reputation for fighting over almost everything. They did, however, agree on a few things, including Spongebob Squarepants (a reference to this Vogue interview with Liam; we’ll help you out here and say he mentions Spongebob about 11 minutes into the interview, although the whole thing is entertaining and weirdly wholesome).
A fan tweeted at Liam, asking, “How do you feel about SNL’s impression of you last night.” His response: “Excruciating.” Another commented, “They did you dirty man.” He replied, “I wouldn’t expect anything else from them.” He responded to someone else asking about the video, “Are they meant to be comedians.”
A fan named “godlikeLG,” who uses a photo of Liam as the profile image asked “why do so many people not appreciate your sense of humour, it’s great.” Liam’s response, “they do they just thing it’s hip to hate.”
Liam Gallagher: Fun On X
Liam often takes questions from people on X, formerly Twitter. His above response was one of many from this weekend. Among the questions he was asked included “Which Oasis song is the most difficult to sing?” He responded, “F—ing in the bushes” (which is an instrumental).
“Mica” asked him, “Will you ever start a cult? if so what would you call it.” His response: “They look hard work those cults loads of weirdos thinking there god and spiritualy connected and protected.” “Herr Krause” asked, “If you had to choose would you rather dance, dress or sing like Mick Jagger for the reunion gigs?” Liam’s answer was blunt: “Sing dancing is for idiots.” “Mashsa” wanted to know “thoughts on drinking guinness at 10 in the morning.” Unsurprisingly, he said, “It’s normal.”
He may not have been serious with all of his responses. “Bean” asked “How long is the ’25 set gonna be.” Liam said, “Just under an hour.” Finally, someone said, “liam I’m under your bed.” He replied, “thought I could smell something.”
As we previously reported, it was during an exchange on X that Liam revealed that he and Noel won’t be doing interviews to promote the tour. A fan asked about this and Liam said, “We don’t want to do interviews coz we’re scared of the media asking us intrusive questions and trying to pick holes in our relationship.”
According to Oasis’ website, the band has sold out multiple stadium shows in Europe and North America, so they don’t really need to do any extra work to promote the shows.
