Scarlett Johansson To Star In ‘Black Widow’ Film
Scarlett Johansson has appeared as the Black Widow in seven Marvel films: all four Avengers films, plus two Captain America movies and one Iron Man (she debuted in 2010’s Iron Man II). Now, she’s finally headlining her own feature film.
At Marvel’s panel at Comic-Con today, Johannson and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced the long-hoped for Black Widow film. Unlike some of the other Marvel movies that were announced, this one has already been filming, so attendees were treated to a trailer (which has not been posted to YouTube yet).
According to io9, the trailer featured an intense fight scene between Johansson’s Natasha and Yelena Belova played by Florence Pugh (who just starred in the indie horror film Midsommar). In the Marvel comics universe, Yelena Belova is the second character to take on the name “Black Widow.”
The film, directed by Cate Shortland, is due out on May 1, 2020.
