Susan Haspel, State Director of the Boys and Girls Club Of New Jersey, joins Lisa Anderson to discuss the critical need of providing food at a time when families are in need and clubs are closed. This past week, the clubs were able to open their Summer camp programs with twenty-five percent capacity. The in person activities have mostly been replaced with virtual learning programs such as culinary instruction, college readiness programs, and support for children and their families by trained staff and volunteers. Susan also discussed how a 50,000 grant from Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield has enabled the Clubs to provide much needed supplies, food and program support to families in need.
