100.1 WJRZ presents “New Wave Rewind” with TJ Bryan Saturdays at 8pm.

“New Wave Rewind” goes back to the future of  cool with the best music from the early days of MTV.

New Wave is unquestionably one of the defining genres of the 1980s, growing from ’70s post-punk like the Ramones, the Clash, and Talking Heads, and eventually giving way to artists like Duran Duran, U2, Culture Club, and Tears For Fears.

When MTV launched on August 1, 1981 with The Buggles’ “Video Killed The Radio Star”, it created a colorful platform for a new generation of rock and pop artists that was defined as much by its look as the music.

From the late 1970’s through the 1980’s, “New Wave Rewind” is a musical journey through one of the most exciting and evolutionary times in music history.  Each week we play the biggest New Wave artists, take a look back at New Wave history, blow out candles in the Birthday Club, shine the Soundtrack Spotlight on great movie music, and highlight some of the best songs in our irreverent, completely made up “Top 3 Countdown.”
