The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 kicked off earlier this month with 33 teams competing across 64 matches. Lucky for us, New Jersey is well represented during this exciting time for soccer fans worldwide.
While the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team played to a draw against England on Friday (November 25), they must win on Tuesday (November 29) against Iran to advance to the round of 16.
We wanted to take the time to introduce two players among the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team roster that are both Jersey born. In addition, Gregg Berhalter of Englewood, New Jersey is taking on his first World Cup in the position of head coach.
Matt Turner (goalkeeper), 28, is a 2012 graduate of Saint Joseph Regional High School in Montvale. Brenden Aaronson (attacking midfielder or winger), 22, also known as “Medford Messi,” of Medford, previously played for the Philadelphia Union and Red Bull Salzburg.
