Many Spring Breakers trying to make it home from Florida were greeted with a nightmare at airports this weekend.

Airlines canceled more than 3,500 flights in the U.S. – 1,500 on Sunday alone – and delayed thousands more because of storms in Florida along with what was described as “technical issues” by Southwest.

Major disruptions were reported at airports including Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa, and Orlando. JetBlue and Spirit canceled one-third of Sunday’s scheduled flights. Social media was flooded with stories from people complaining about not being able to get new flights out for several days.

  never fly frontier bc they cancelled our flight and now we have to rent a car to drive all the way back home, florida to new jersey 😭

  @JetBlue then you have the nerve to rebook several hours later to Westchester airport for a 6am flight tomorrow? You also sent the confirmation to the wrong email, not the one linked to the account. We are not paying $200 for an Uber to get to Westchester from NJ! Want refund NOW

  I don't believe I'll even make it back to NJ at this point. Now plane #2 has a maintenance issue. @Delta I've been stuck inside the Atlanta airport for 12+ hours. This is absurd!
