U.S. Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light would like to alert all area boaters to a serious shoaling issue that has developed on Barnegat Bay in the vicinity of Forked River, south to Oyster Creek entrance, on the Intracoastal Waterway.
U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Division 7 of Southern Ocean County is assisting in notification of the boating public of the hazard.
All boaters operating in the area, between Buoys 36 and 40 in Oyster Creek Channel, are urged to navigate the area with extreme caution due to severe shoaling. All vessels should reduce speed, wear life jackets, post a lookout and maintain a safe distance to allow for maneuvering at all times.
