Rusty Pilot Seminar
  • This event has passed.

April 99:00 am - 12:00 pm

Local Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 898 is sponsoring a Rusty Pilot seminar offered by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) on Saturday, April 9 from 9AM to Noon at the Ocean County Emergency Management/NJ Motor Vehicle Commission Building (where they conduct the drivers tests), at the corner of Mule Road and Airport Rd. in Berkeley Township, NJ.  There is no cost for AOPA members, but a cost of $79 for pilots who are not members of AOPA. The Rusty Pilot seminar is for pilots who have not been flying for a while and want to start flying again.  For more information contact 609-709-7676 or go to AOPA’s website at

A pilot’s certificate never expires. Once a pilot, always a pilot. All that is needed is a Flight Review to start flying again. This program will bring pilots up to speed on issues like medical reform, weather briefings, preflight planning, Federal Aviation Regulations, and airspace regulations. This will be covered, and more, with an instructor from AOPA.

EAA Chapter 898, The Ocean County Chapter, is a group of flying enthusiasts who meet together at least once a month, to discuss aviation related topics.  You do not need to be a pilot to be a member.  They assist people who are building their own airplanes in the area.  They give free airplane rides to youth between the ages of 8 and 17 as part of the International Young Eagles program.  They also raise money to give out scholarships to individuals who are working on their pilot certificates or who are going into aviation careers.  For more information call 609-698-3323 and leave a message.  Someone will get back to you. Or you can go to the EAA website at
