Celebrate Maritime Heritage at Tuckerton Seaport

Tuckerton Seaport & Baymen’s Museum, 120 West Main Street, TuckertonSet sail at the Tuckerton Seaport for the Maritime Heritage Festival, featuring the 15th annual Antique and Classic Boat Show on Saturday and Sunday, September 6th and 7th. From 10am until 5pm each day, the Seaport will offer demonstrations, tours and hands-on activities focused on the rich maritime heritage of the Jersey Shore. The Seaport has a full schedule of activities planned for this weekend long celebration with something for everyone. There will be live music from Valerie Vaughn on Saturday from noon to 4pm. Festival Highlights include:
Randy Budd of Pine Knot Surfboards will be demonstrating Alaia and “Kookbox” construction (in tent by NJ Surf Museum).
Master Basket Maker, Mary May will demonstrate how to make traditional South Jersey maritime baskets, including pound fish baskets and eel traps.
Model Boat Club.
Meet commercial clammer, Fred Kalm and learn how to tong for clams.
Learn how to tie maritime knots.
Watch Tanner Holcolmb- fishing lures.
Learn about making traditional South Jersey Crafts, including sneakboxes and garveys.
Meet decoy carvers, including members of our Youth Carving Club.
Make toy sneakboxes.
Learn about our new 44’ Coast Guard Boat by one of her crew members, Captain Dave Wick (Saturday Only).
Meet U.S. Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer, Karen Voorhees, who is an Aviation Survival Technician at USCG Air Station Atlantic City (Saturday Only).
Margaret Bucholz presentation on NJ Shipwrecks at 1:30pm (Sunday Only).
Bounce House (Saturday) and boat rides on the Tuckerton Creek are included with admission.
The Tuckerton Seaport & Baymen’s Museum is located at 120 West Main Street in the heart of historic Tuckerton. Event admission includes access to the Seaport’s 40 acres of family fun, featuring maritime activities, historic and recreated buildings, live animals, boardwalk, miniature golf course and exhibits. Adults $8, seniors $6, children 5-12 $5, children under 5 and Seaport members are free.
