This week’s Around Ocean County features Jim Cooney, CEO of Ocean Mental Health Services with locations across Ocean County. Ocean mental Health Services serves those who are suffering from mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, addiction and in some cases schizophrenia. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, they’ve changed the protocol for serving their patients. Programs are now being done mostly by telemed. The group homes are monitored closely each day along with the need for bulk supplies and PPE for the staff. In some cases, staff members must make a home visit in order to give medication, but for the most part, Ocean Mental Health Services will continue to monitor their patients by phone or video conferences. They have recently integrated wellness care to their services.
