This week, Around Ocean County’s Lisa Anderson discusses with volunteer Gwen Moran the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Giving, which takes place Monday January 21st at Wall Intermediate School. From 9 a.m. until noon, students, faculty and parents join forces for a day of giving. Clothing, diapers, pet supplies, etc. are collected and distributed throughout the community by volunteers. The students also bake treats and baked goods for area First Responders and deliver them to the various stations as a way of thanking them for their service throughout the year. Gently worn clothing, prom dresses and suits are delivered to various charities throughout Monmouth and Ocean Counties and go directly to those in need. Some of the charities helped are Lunch Break in Red Bank, Wag On In pet shelter, and the Manasquan food pantry.
