This week our guest is Charlie Welch, Assistant Superintendent for Island Beach State Park. IBSP is a preserved barrier island that protects a number of natural shoreline and nearshore habitats. The park contains close to ten miles of sandy beach, an extensive shoreline along the Barnegat Bay, dense forests, rolling sand dunes and tidal marshes. Island Beach is also home to fox, ospreys, wildlife and over 400 species of plants. Visitors can enjoy swimming, fishing, kayaking and events such as the Beach Plum Festival and Barktoberfest, a large pet expo. For more information, please visit Islandbeachnj.org.
