Seniors aged 60 and up in Atlantic County who earn below certain income limits can receive $40 to spend on fresh produce and herbs at local farmers markets. The program runs from May straight through November 30. Six distribution events will take place between May 20 and June 24, managed by the county Division of Intergenerational Services.

Income limits apply. Single applicants can't earn more than $2,461 each month or $29,526 yearly. Couples face a cap of $3,337 monthly or $40,034 per year.

According to Downbeach, approved seniors get a QR code loaded with $40. Use it once or spread purchases across several market visits. Codes can't be given to others, and lost or stolen codes won't be replaced.

Can't make it to an in-person event? Call the division on Monday, June 29 at 1-888-426-9243. Don't call before then — applications won't be accepted early. Credits go out until they run out.

Bring ID, income proof, and residency proof to distribution events.

The first event happens May 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Shoreview Building, 101 S. Shore Road, Northfield. Next comes May 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Buena Senior Center, 604 Central Ave., Minotola.

June 3 brings distribution from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Egg Harbor Township Senior Center, 5045 English Creek Ave. Then June 10 runs 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Jeffries Towers, 227 N. Vermont Ave., Atlantic City.

Galloway Senior Center, 621 W. White Horse Pike, hosts the June 17 event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The last chance returns to Shoreview Building on June 24, again from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Every distribution event falls on a Wednesday.
