Twenty-two pickleball courts will pop up across two South Jersey towns. Cherry Hill and Turnersville have greenlit plans for public and private spots.
Cherry Hill will add eight public courts through two separate projects, splitting them between locations on opposite sides of town. Officials plan to build four courts at Beechwood and Poplar Avenues on the west side near Route 38. Camden County announced four more at Challenge Grove Park off Bortons Mill Road, which also sits within Cherry Hill's borders.
"Our residents spoke and we listened," Mayor Dave Fleisher said at a Feb. 19 event to announce the Beechwood and Poplar project, according to the Courier-Post Online.
Lights will shine over both spots. Benches and parking will be added too. Crews start work this summer, wrapping up when fall arrives.
The Legacy Club along Evesham Road in Cherry Hill will debut five outdoor courts this spring, though only members can play there. This private country club addition pushes Cherry Hill's new court count to 13.
Ace Pickleball Club members are transforming 25,000 square feet of indoor space in Turnersville into a nine-court venue at Washington Plaza shopping center along the Black Horse Pike.
Doors should open by mid-year. Thirty jobs will be created.
