January will see moderate training noise on most days. A few dates early in the month and late in the month should stay quieter. The calendar marks when military training might generate low, moderate, or high noise from weapons firing and aircraft flying over the base.
Low-noise days mean ground training with small arms and light crew-served weapons. Moderate-noise periods can bring rotary-wing aircraft and aerial gunnery into the mix. High-noise days? Those come with heavy weapons training and munitions that create louder, longer-lasting sound across the area.
The base warns that noise shifts depending on weather. Cloud cover can push sound farther than expected. Military officials say training needs and weather can shift the schedule without much warning.
Noise might come and go instead of lasting all day. Officials designed this schedule to help residents near the installation get ready for disruptions.
Residents with questions about training activity can contact the base's public affairs office at 609-754-2575.
