This Speakeasy Is A Whiskey Bar In New Jersey You Need To Know About
If you are looking for an old-fashioned, simple, yet relaxing Whiskey Bar in New Jersey, there is one particular spot you need to keep on your radar.
An establishment that specializes in something like whiskey, scotch, or even cigars perhaps doesn’t get a lot of promotional attention. That could be deliberate. Typically, these spots are purposely styled to resemble a speakeasy. They are a throwback to a prohibition-era hideaway.
Of course, the centerpiece of the fun and attraction is the sipping drink. Regardless of your flavor of preference, whiskey neat, scotch with a twist, or even a shot of bourbon, there’s a calming to being inside these walls.
Even thinking back a hundred years, some of the feel-good qualities you seek out in a whiskey bar remain true. There’s something in the air within a whiskey bar where you find yourself with like-minded people, and the next thing you know, it’s hours later because you have been submersed in a heartfelt and meaningful conversation.
Maybe it’s the slow sipping that calms the nerves and mind that inspires such an experience. You feel safe inside a tavern that is often windowless. You feel understood. Then, as much as you would like to frequent such a place, they tend to be destinations you only go to on occasion.
This Whiskey Bar In New Jersey Embodies All Of This
Located at 64 High Street in Mount Holly, this whiskey bar you need to know about is simply called The Local Lounge. In fact, regulars often shorten that down to just “The Lounge.” It sounds like a clubhouse style atmosphere from just the name, and that would be accurate.
“The Local Lounge is a private and charming “speakeasy” hidden away in the walls of our building,” they say.
Inside the confines, over 300 different whiskeys are available. Most are poured by the glass in serving sizes of 20 ounces, so you can sip casually and enjoy. Bourbon, rye, and single malt flights are also offered.
Inside the Lounge, you will find worn brown leather couches and rows of liquor shelves on the walls. Each of them is enclosed behind what resembles wine lockers, giving the ambiance a truly rustic feel. The drink you select also determines which glass you will receive, as certain glassware items are reserved for specific drinks.
The Local Lounge is only open Wednesday through Saturday from 5 PM to 11 PM. Then, they also open their doors every other Sunday, but only from 4 PM to 8 PM.
They encourage you to visit and meet new companions or sit with the company of your own. That’s, of course, if you can find this speakeasy.
