New Jersey’s Best and Worst Cities For Women
Certain areas are better equipped to address various aspects of women’s well-being, including access to healthcare and economic opportunities. WalletHub, a personal finance website, conducted a study to assess the quality of life for women in different cities.
To determine the rankings, WalletHub analyzed 182 cities, which included the 150 most populated cities in the United States and at least two of the largest cities in each state. They evaluated these cities across two key dimensions: “Women’s Economic & Social Well-Being” and “Women’s Health Care & Safety.” Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with 100 representing the most favorable conditions for women.
New Jersey’s Best and Worst Cities For Women
According to the report, Jersey City is among the top 15 cities for women, securing the 12th position with a score of 67.27. The study highlights that Jersey City performed well in the “Women’s Health Care & Safety” category.
Meanwhile, Newark is also featured in the rankings, occupying the 135th spot. Unfortunately, Newark exhibited the highest unemployment rate for women, as indicated by the study.
In March, WalletHub published a report on the Best and Worst States for Women in 2023. Interestingly, New Jersey is listed among the top 10 states for women, holding the 10th position, as per the report. Additionally, the state has the 14th highest life expectancy for women giving birth.
Overall, Columbia, Maryland, emerged at the top of the list as one of the best cities for women. It’s almost a third higher than the national average. Following closely behind is South Burlington, Vermont, in the second position. Completing the top three cities that are best for women is Irvine, California.
Towards the end of the ranking, we find Brownsville, Texas, occupying the 180th position. Following closely behind is Gulfport, Mississippi, placed at 181st. The lowest ranking, considered the least favorable in the study, is Jackson, Mississippi, with an overall score of 26.68.

4 New Jersey Cities Make Best Party Cities in the US List
New Jersey knows how to get down. According to Bonus Finder, four New Jersey cities have been ranked as some of the “best party cities in the United States.”
The casino review site compiled the list of United States cities based on several attributes the city had to have. Bonus Finder looked at the following criteria:
- Music Events
- Bars
- Nightclubs
- Late Night Food Venues
- Hotels
- Casinos
- Stripclubs
The site even had your pockets in mind when determining where is the best place to go for a great night out. Below are some factors that Bonus Finder considered in their ranking:
- Average Price of a Drink
- Average Price of a Hotel Room
- Average Taxi Cost from the Airport to the City Center
Lastly, (and maybe most importantly, depending on who you ask), the site also considered which clubs and events had the latest “last call at the bar.”
The site reviewed “the number of bars, hotels, nightclubs, casinos, stripclubs, and late night food venues were calculated per 10,000 people. Each city has a normalized score out of 10 on each of the factors, before taking an average total normalized score across each of these scores to reach our final overall score out of 10.”
Take a look at the three New Jersey cities that made the top 20 of their list and their final scores below:
