Opening Day! Watch Yankees Shortstop Anthony Volpe Mash In High School
It’s Opening Day and Yankees fans are salivating over their new stud prospect, rookie shortstop Anthony Volpe.
Volpe is from Watchung, New Jersey, and all he ever wanted was to be on the Yankees and his dream comes true today as he takes the position he watched Derek Jeter play for most of Anthony’s life. The 21 year old was the Yankees’ first round draft pick in 2019 after a tremendous high school career at Delbarton in Morristown, and in his first at bat after being drafted, he went YARD.
The folks at Jersey Sports Zone covered Volpe’s incredible high school career closer than anyone, and their highlights have been in regular rotation for Yankees fans eager to see their new shortstop in action. This is a compilation video JSZ put together after Volpe was drafted.
His minor league career brought him close to home last season when he was slugging for the Yankee’s AA affiliate Somerset Patriots.
And that was the end of his minor league career as he skips right over AAA to open the season in the Bronx today. Good luck, Anthony Volpe!
