Two N.J. Pizza Shops Make Top 50 Best Pizzerias In The U.S. List
Two New Jersey pizza shops have made the 50 Best Pizzerias in the United States list according to 50 Top Pizza. The site says it used 1,000 anonymous inspectors worldwide to help with its rankings. Pizzerias are scored by the quality of the pizza dough and topping ingredients. Wine, beverage lists, and customer service are also included in the ranking.
New Jersey has earned the No. 4 and No. 45 spot on the list. Coming in at No. 45 is Bricco Coal Fired Pizza located at 128 Haddon Ave. in Westmont, NJ. Bricco was founded by Vincenzo Barone. Its mission is to restore the pizza-making process to highlight the craft. “Pizza is a lost art, it is not cheese and sauce,” it reads on their website. “There is passion and a skillful process that goes into a Bricco pizza. We use only the freshest, highest quality ingredients and there is an enormous amount of effort that goes into each pizza that is made.” Bricco is open Monday-Thursday 11am-8pm, Friday & Saturday 11am-9pm, and Sunday 12pm-8pm.

It’s a lofty goal that means constantly searching for better ingredients while continuously honing our techniques with each and every pizza we make. We have defined what great pizza is to us, and painstakingly worked backwards to create it.” The restaurant was founded by Dan Richer who is a New Jersey native. Razza is open Tuesday-Thursday, 5-10 pm, Friday-Saturday, 3-10 pm, Sunday, 3-9 pm (Takeout only) and are closed on Mondays.
The No. 1 spot goes to a former New Jersey pizza shop owner per USA Today. Anthony Mangieri earned the No. 1 ranking for his New York City restaurant Una Pizza Napoletana. It opened in March 2022 after he closed his Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey, shop of the same name in September 2021. He opened the Point Pleasant Beach location in 1996.
“It’s humbling, and I am filled with gratitude,” he said about the No. 1 ranking in a statement to the publication. “Every day since opening Una Pizza in 1996 I’ve had the dream to pursue this work without compromise. We’ve been so blessed to be able to do this and continue to learn and grow as a pizzeria and as pizza makers.”
