“I’ve Made A Huge Mistake”: Netflix Dropping Arrested Development
One of the greatest television comedies of all time is being dropped by the network that resurrected it. Arrested Development, which ran for three turbulent seasons on Fox before being unceremoniously canceled, was picked up by Netflix for two more seasons and it is now leaving the service as of March 14.
The move is a bit puzzling, as the show is not only a critical and cult fave, but Netflix stepped in to save the show after the Fox cancellation. Netflix acquired the non-exclusive rights to Arrested Development‘s first three seasons in 2011, and they bankrolled the fourth and fifth seasons, the former of which debuted ten years ago.
Even though the series is being dropped by Netflix, the first three seasons of AD are currently available to stream on Hulu, and the fourth and fifth seasons may be arriving soon (but honestly, you can skip those). The first three seasons are available on DVD as well.
