Every weekday at around 4:20pm, I’m going to drop a song that I think you should listen to and make the remainder of your workday a bit more mellow with the 4:20 HIT of the Day. What does this mean? Simply, it’s a song that I think will give you some good vibes, ‘spark up’ nostalgia or just remind you about a tune that you might love but just haven’t heard in a while.
Today’s HIT is an amazing “air guitar” song that will make you crank the volume up. “Voodoo Child (Slight Return)” by the Jimi Hendrix Experience was recorded in 1968 from the “Electric Ladyland” album.
It became Hendrix’s only number one single on the UK Singles Chart during the week of November 15, 1970, 2 months after his death. It became a fan favorite at Hendrix’s concerts and the live renditions of the song varied from seven to eighteen minutes long. Joe Satriani referred to “Voodoo Child” as “the greatest piece of electric guitar work ever recorded.”
Plus, if you’re a fan of pro wrestling…you probably are waiting for Hollywood Hulk Hogan to walk out once the intro begins because it’s just…too…sweeeeeet!
