Parade To Be Held In Jersey City To Celebrate Saint Peter’s Men’s Basketball
Jersey City has a parade in the works to celebrate the Saint Peter’s men’s basketball team’s NCAA Tournament run. Mayor Steven Fulop announced that it is planned for Friday afternoon (April 1).
Mayor Fulop told Eyewitness News that the “tentative parade route” is Lincoln Park up to Saint Peter University’s campus. The parade will be followed by a rally on campus and the team will be presented with keys to the city.
Mayor Fulop published the following post to Twitter on March 27th:
“Today’s game changes very little for us. We couldn’t be prouder of @PeacocksMBB + we’ll 100% do a parade/keys to the city for this team to say THANK YOU properly from all of us in #JerseyCity + NJ. You showed the best of our city to the world + we (heart) you for that.”
While the Saint Peter’s Men’s Basketball became the first No. 15 seed to reach the NCAA Tournament’s Elite Eight, the Peacocks’ March Madness run came to an end on Sunday with a loss to North Carolina.
Peacock Nation, THANK YOU
