The Manasquan Inlet Intracoastal Tug is set to return on Saturday, October 9th.

The 2021 Intracoastal Tug will highlight a series of tugs-of-war using a pair of 600-foot ropes linked at the center of the 450-foot wide Manasquan Inlet.

The one-of-a-kind event serves as a fundraiser for both the Manasquan and Point Pleasant Beach Recreation Departments.

Previous heats pitted Manasquan and Point Pleasant Beach First Responders, local businesses, workout facilities, lifeguards, high school athletes and more.

“We all really missed this event last year,” said committee chairman Geoff Brown in a press release. “Our first two years were really overwhelming successes, raising nearly $50,000 between the two recreation departments. It’s a special event and this year we have additional opportunities for public participation. We can’t wait to roll out the ropes!”

The day begins with two concurrent festivals, one on each side of the Inlet, at 11:00 am that run throughout the day. Each festival will include live music, craft vendors, food vendors, and additional fun.

The Mayor’s Trophy, won by Manasquan in 2018 and Point Pleasant Beach in 2019, is given to the winning mayor at one of the respective after-parties.
