SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ - MAY 14: The Star Jet roller coaster (back) is prepared to be removed from the ocean as work continues the new boardwalk that was damaged six months ago by Superstorm Sandy May 14, 2013 in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. Seaside Heights Mayor Bill Akers said parts of the two mile long boardwalk are completed and he is confident its entirety will be completed when the beaches opens on Memorial Day weekend.

The landscape of the Jersey Shore changed forever after Superstorm Sandy ravaged our area 8 years ago. The state came together as one to cope with our losses, rebuild our homes and restore the shore.

There was no agenda, it was simply helping one another because it was needed so desperately. Every single person in New Jersey was affected in one way or another and once the storm moved out, we collectively dusted ourselves off got to work.

All of us at 100.1 WJRZ remember the losses we suffered, but also praises the resilience of everyone who was #StrongerThanTheStorm.
