NASA Rocket Launch to Be Visible in New Jersey on Valentine’s Day
NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia is set to launch a Northrop Grumman Antares rocket tomorrow (February 14). Residents located anywhere between Monmouth County to Cape May County have a good chance of viewing the launch within 60 seconds after liftoff.
Coverage of the launch will begin at 3:15 p.m. on NASA Television with a scheduled takeoff at 3:43 p.m. EST. This marks the company’s thirteenth commercial resupply services mission using its Cygnus cargo spacecraft that will launch on its Antares rocket from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport.
According to a NASA press release, the rocket is “loaded with approximately 7,500 pounds of research, crew supplies, and hardware, the Cygnus spacecraft, dubbed the SS Robert H. Lawrence, will arrive at the space station Sunday, Feb 16 at about 5:11 a.m.”
The CRS-13 launch on Valentine’s Day along with many others continue to significantly increase NASA’s ability to conduct new investigations at the only laboratory in space. As of now, it has an 80% chance of favorable weather conditions.
