We are always trying to avoid the common seasonal cold and symptoms of the flu, however, there are some beliefs surrounding this topic that are simply not true.

Dr. Oz made a visit to the TODAY Show Monday morning (January 27) to discuss the myths and facts behind staying healthy. The talk show host and health expert put Hoda Kotb, Savannah GuthrieAl Roker, and Sheinelle Jones to the test.

According to the TODAY Show, "Widespread influenza activity has been reported in 48 states, with at least 15 million flu illnesses, 140,000 hospitalizations and 8,200 deaths from the flu so far this season."

Throughout the segment below, Dr. Oz reviews how colds are transmitted, how lack of sleep can affect your immune system, the benefits of eating chicken soup, and so much more. Plus, Dr. Oz is sharing the Oz Family Chicken Soup recipe.
