Paul McCartney Catalog Gets 4 More Reissues

The reissue of Paul McCartney‘s solo catalog continues on May 18 with the release of four titles on Capitol Records.Wings GreatestChaos and Creation in the Backyard, NEW and Thrillington will be issued in single CD digipak and black vinyl single LP formats as well as limited edition 180 gram color vinyl pressings. All vinyl editions will include a download card.

Wings Greatest was the first compilation of McCartney’s post-Beatles hits, featuring four classics that had previously been unavailable on any McCartney album: “Another Day,” “Junior’s Farm,” “Hi, Hi, Hi” and “Mull of Kintyre.”Wings Greatest will be available on CDvinyl and blue vinyl with a 20″ x 30″ poster.

Chaos and Creation in the Backyard was nominated for four Grammy Awards including the coveted Album of the Year. It includes “Jenny Wren” which won the Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. The album remained on the charts for nearly half a year, while McCartney mounted the massive “US” Tour. The title will be available on CDvinyl and gold vinyl with a 12″ x 12″ insert.

NEW was executive produced by Giles Martin and also featured production by Mark Ronson, Ethan Johns and Paul Epworth. The title track, “Queenie Eye” and “Save Us” would become staples of the McCartney live show over the course of the “Out There” and “One On One” world tours. This new edition will feature the first vinyl pressing of the album since its 2013 release, plus CD and a pink vinyl edition and 12″ x 12″ insert.

Recorded in 1971 but not released until 1977, Thrillington remains one of the most enigmatic entries in the storied McCartney discography. Credited to the pseudonym Percy “Thrills” Thrillington, a fictitious socialite whose activities were chronicled in U.K. newspaper ads, Thrillingtonwas actually a fully reimagined instrumental lounge/jazz version of Paul and Linda McCartney’s Ram. This reissues makes the album available on vinyl for the first time since its 1977 first pressing, on CD and as a red/black marbled edition.
