In 2017, there certainly wasn’t a shortage of great reissues and box sets up for grabs. As we wind down 2017 and head into the New Year, here are the seven reissues/box sets from this year that we think are must-owns.
Bob Dylan – Trouble No More: The Bootleg Series Vol. 13: 1979-1981
Certainly one of the largest box sets from 2017, Dylan’s Trouble No More delved into the iconic singer-songwriter’s controversial “born-again” period of his career.
The Beatles – Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (50th Anniversary Edition)
For one of the biggest, most important albums of all time, it’s no wonder the 50th anniversary reissue of Sgt. Pepper’s went all out! The super deluxe edition of the reissue included multiple mixes of the album, as well as unreleased material and an unreleased documentary on the making of the album.
U2 – The Joshua Tree (30th Anniversary Edition)
Considering the past couple months in U2 world have been dominated by their latest studio album Songs of Experience, we almost forgot that The Joshua Tree turned 30 this year! Then we remembered that incredible tour and the massive 30th Anniversary box set and then felt kind of silly for forgetting.
Def Leppard – Hysteria (30th Anniversary Edition)
When one of the bestselling albums of all-time hits the 30th anniversary mark, you have to go big, and Def Leppard certainly did that with the reissue of Hysteria, which was packed with b-sides, live material, promo videos AND documentaries.
Queen – News of the World (40th Anniversary Edition)
This reissue rocked us! One might even say it’s the champion of reissues. (Sorry, not sorry. We refuse to apologize for puns!)
The Doors – The Doors (50th Anniversary Edition)
The Beatles weren’t the only band celebrating a monumental 5-0 this year. The Doors’ landmark self-titled debut also celebrated its golden anniversary complete with a stellar reissue.
David Bowie – A New Career in a New Town (1977-1982)
Lastly, the latest installment in Bowie’s career series box sets covers the late singer’s “Berlin Trilogy” of Low, “Heroes” and Lodger and features a ton of bonus content, including a special 84-page hardcover book.
