If you were a child of the 90’s, chances are that AOL and AIM were a vital part of your lives. On December 15th, a little bit of our childhood will be gone.
In the 1990’s, AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) was like nothing the world had ever seen. You could talk to people across the country with a few clicks and they’d reply! It was addictive, it was a way to meet new people and it opened our eyes to other parts of the country.
Technology has advanced with other IM apps like Facebook Messenger, texting, and Google Hangouts so this shutdown of the original AIM doesn’t come as a big surprise. It’s a bit sad though, as AIM becomes obsolete, as you say goodbye to “CatLover3341” forever. (No, that wasn’t my screen name lol)
