Mellencamp’s Son Arrested After Fight Outside Bloomington, Ind. Restaurant
One of John Mellencamp‘s sons is in legal trouble once again.
Speck Mellencamp, the singer’s 22-year-old son with ex-wife Elaine Irwin, was arrested Sunday (July 16) after he and his brother Hud, 23, were involved in a fight outside of a restaurant in Bloomington, Ind. Speck was charged with public intoxication and resisting attempts by police and EMS to treat his injuries, both at the scene and at the hospital.
Speck, who claimed he was attacked on Sunday, reportedly suffered a small cut on his nose and a scratch on his neck and was released on bond.
This follows a 2013 incident, also in Bloomington, after he and Hud were convicted of attacking another man in Bloomington; Speck served four days in jail (in 12-hour spurts because of a panic disorder) while Hud was sentenced to 50 hours of community service.
After the initial incident, John Mellencamp told us that,
“You don’t want to see those guys at your door, that’s all I can tell you. That’s all I can say about it…Hud and Speck, you don’t want to see them on your fuckin’ front porch.”
Hud played football at Duke University, while Speck attended the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Their father resumes his summer tour on August 4 in West Allis, Wisc.
