It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas For Cheap Trick
Cheap Trick has been on a roll lately, releasing two albums in two years and being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Now comes word of a possible second album this year — a holiday set.
Bassist Tom Petersson tells Orange Amps that the group has “actually just finished recording a Christmas record about two months ago…(which) will be released around Halloween, and it came out great. We did one standard, and then all sorts of different songs on there. It’s really cool…We’ve got a few originals and we covered songs from artists that we really like which have done Christmas songs…Roy Wood and that sort of thing.”
Petersson adds that every song on the album has Christmas in the title, “so we could never keep it straight during recording, trying to figure out which songs was which, ‘OK guys, let’s do the Christm…the sleigh song next.'”
The project has not yet been officially announced yet.
Cheap Trick’s latest studio album We’re All Alright! came out in June, following last year’s Bang, Zoom, Crazy…Hello. The group is currently on the road with Foreigner with both bands celebrating the 40th anniversary of their respective debut albums.
