Don Henley Announces Solo Tour Dates

Don Henley will be celebrating his 70th birthday on stage near home this year with a July 22 concert at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Henley, a Texas native who returned to the state after decades living in Los Angeles, will welcome "several very special guests" at the show, although they've not been announced yet. The Eagles singer and drummer has also announced short seven-show run through North America as he continues to support his latest solo album, Cass County.

Henley tells us that although he plays some Eagles favorites during the concerts he really enjoys the opportunity to focus on his solo catalog:

"It's a good feeling to know that I have, well, I'm not one to rest on my laurels. I don't look back too much. I try to look forward and I live in the present, but me a sense of accomplishment to know that I have that body of work to choose from because now it's harder to put a set together because there are so many things -- as my dear friend Bob Seer says, what to leave in, what to leave out. And it's fun to be able to change the show up every night; The Eagles was a little bit rigid and we did the same show every night, but I've got a band that is capable of shifting, of turning on a dime, and I can call out songs spontaneously some night and we just change the set order right in the middle of the show, and it's really fun to be able to do that because they're capable of it."

Henley and the other surviving Eagles are reportedly planning to play a pair of special festival shows later this year with Fleetwood Mac, Journey, Steely Dan and others, but details have not yet been revealed.
