Arriving today (April 7) is InFinite, the latest album by Deep Purple.
It's the follow-up to 2013's well-received Now What?! and finds the group working again with legendary producer Bob Ezrin. Bassist Roger Glover tells us that like most of its more recent releases the group started with a blank slate in creating the album:
"As is always the case, when we go in to make an album we have no idea. We don't sit down and have a meeting and say, 'What are we gonna do?' We just let the music do the talking. I think because of the touring, the heavy touring...Well, we were always a touring band anyway, but we did a lot of heavy touring after 'Now What?!' and I think that comes back into the new record somehow. We were well used to each other...If I look back on it now the album obviously sounds a bit heavier than 'Now What?!,' a bit denser maybe, but it certainly wasn't a plan. We never have a plan. We just jam and see what happens."
The group has released a video for the track "All I Got Is You" and begins a world tour it's dubbed The Long Goodbye on May 13 in Europe, with a late summer North American leg with Alice Cooper and Edgar Winter starting August 12 in Las Vegas.
